Tell us a bit about the Amber Whitecliffe brand - how long has it been going for, who do you make it for and what is the overall ethos and aesthetic?

Whilst I was working full time in the fashion industry and slowly building my label on the side. I officially launched the brand in 2012 selling online and then opened my boutique in Parnell March 2014-I just celebrated the boutique’s 3rd birthday. The brand is for anyone who wants to have something feminine and unique. I do VERY small runs of my designs (often they are one-offs) meaning you wont see anyone else in your garment. Being a self–titled label the brand has my aesthetic. I am a fabric magpie! Addicted to beautiful fabrics, sparkle and colour!

You recently launched a new Bridal collection, congratulations! Tell us a bit about it (e.g. your inspiration behind the collection, how often you’ll be bringing out new styles, and what made you take the leap into bridal).

As the business has grown, the Amber Whitecliffe Brand has changed a lot. I quickly realised that most women don’t fit into a perfect size or just can’t find exactly what they are after! so I began to create more and more custom made garments. I have really enjoyed this creative process and getting to know my customers. After being a part of over 100 weddings; mother of the brides & bridesmaids, it was only natural to move into bridal. Why not! I am ready for a new challenge. AW Bridal’s first collection is called #loveadventure17 it is modern and affordable dresses that you can dance in!. I have created a gorgeous range for the fuss-free bride! Elegant unique dresses made in beautiful fabrics to fit and the best part is they are priced at no higher than $2,500.

So Amber Whitecliffe now encapsulates a wonderful collection covering daywear, evening wear, wedding and bridesmaids dresses - you have been a busy lady! What’s next on the agenda?!

Oh you will just have to wait and see! ☺

Did you always want to be a fashion designer, and has it turned out as you imagined it would?

I had always wanted to do something creative, but I wasn’t sure what. I remember crying in my bedroom to my mum about what I was going to do career wise and she said “Amber just look around you!” I stared up to my walls covered in Fashion magazines and said “but mum I haven’t ever touched a sewing machine!” She just smiled and said “follow your passion, work hard, and anything is possible”.

You’re also a new mama to gorgeous baby Boston. How has that changed your life, both personally and professionally?

Yes! I am so lucky to be Boston’s mum, he is the most delish little human and he has brought so much joy to everyone’s life! It definitely has been a juggle working 7 days and being a mum, but I have had a really supportive family so I am super thankful.

Do you have any mentors or role models?

My mum is definitely my role model, she is a strong women running her own business and also raised 3 children on her own as my father passed away when I was 13. She taught me how to work hard, and to always stay positive and to be generous. She is honestly the most amazing woman!

What’s at the top of your bucket list?

My husband and I are ticking two from the bucket list this April! We have always wanted to go USA to watch an NBA game together as this was one of our many common hobbies! Now it is even more fitting to go with our son as this is where his name came from; the Boston Celtics! Secondly I'll be able to go to New York-one of the fashion capitals! So exciting.

What’s a top skincare tip you can share with us? Is there anything that’s changed about your routine since becoming a busy business owner and mum?

I am actually terrible at looking after my skin as I struggle to find the time, so I love products that are easy and fast to use. The Skinfood “cleans all” face wash is perfect!

We like to ask all our #skinfoodies, what’s your favourite Skinfood product?

I love the Skinfood rosehip oil. I have been putting it on my C-Section scar and have noticed its started to fade! ☺
