As the seasons change, so does our skin. Dry, flaky, and even itchy skin, isn’t the most magical thing about winter (that award goes to salted caramel hot chocolate!). Fortunately we have some helpful tips to keep your skin looking as hydrated as the first day of summer.

 

 

 

1, Moisturise!  

 

The biggest secret to keeping your skin supple in winter is simply to moisturise religiously. This isn’t limited to your face either! Consistent moisturising is the best way to maintain hydrated skin throughout the year. It’s important to also pick the right products to suit your skin, our favourite is the Quench Coconut Mask. 2, Drink, Eat & Sleep Well - (this one’s a given all year round!)

While we might think we need more water in summer, our skin will naturally dry out due to environmental changes, especially in the air. This can cause our skin to dry out very quickly, and quicker if not properly hydrated! Another top tip is to increase your intake of hot beverages like green tea (another great source of antioxidants to help your skin!). And what your parents told you is true, eat your greens and get more sleep. A well balanced diet full of healthy fats from nuts, fish and seeds, will give your skin the nutrition it needs to glow from the inside, as well as a solid 8 hours to let your skin rest and repair each night. 

 

3, Overnight Oils and Masks

 

If you haven’t gotten on the oil bandwagon yet, you should! Oils are a fantastic way to add additional moisture and nutrients into your skin and can be easily cocktailed with your existing routine. Be sure to pick an oil that is right for your skin type, or you may find it never sinks in, or clogs your pores. Our Rosehip Oil is a great choice for those with normal, combination, or sensitive skin. Our Coconut & Nut Oil is fantastic for dehydrated or dry skin types. Gently pat an oil into your skin before moisturiser if your skin is oily, and after moisturiser if you have dry skin. Choosing the right oil can help to balance your skin’s natural sebum production, leaving your skin looking and feeling its best. If an oil isn’t your thing, a leave on mask, like our Avocado Night Mask, or thick night cream will help achieve the same results. Bed time is the perfect time to go the extra mile in your skin care routine, it will drink up all the nutrients while you sleep, as this is when your skin performs its natural regeneration and repair already. 

 

 



4, Limit hot showers and baths

 

Ever get out of a hot bath and feel like you need a glass of water immediately? As luxurious as it may feel in the cooler months, try to reduce the length of hot showers and baths as hot water can rob the skin of its natural moisture. If you do need to indulge, with a bath bomb and green tea of course, make sure to moisturise directly afterwards and rehydrate with water before bed.
